Common questions

Choosing an HR certification.

Which HR certification is most recognised?

SHRM (SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP) and HRCI (PHR, SPHR) are the most widely recognised across North America, while CIPD leads in the UK and parts of Asia. The right one depends on your role, region, and whether you work in operations or strategy.

What's the difference between SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP?

SHRM-CP is for HR professionals in operational roles who apply HR knowledge day to day. SHRM-SCP is the senior tier for those who set HR strategy and lead the function.

How long does an HR certification stay valid?

Most credentials need recertification on a cycle. SHRM credentials, for example, require 60 professional development credits every three years, or you can retake the exam.

Do HR certifications matter in Asia?

Increasingly, yes. Global credentials like SHRM and HRCI are portable across markets, and many Asia-based employers now recognise them alongside local qualifications.
